COVID-19: TWO CASES OF THE OMICRON VARIANT OF THE CORONAVIRUS CONFIRMED - GHS

The Ghana Health Service,GHS recorded two (2) cases of the Omicron variant of the Corona Virus on November 21_2021. However the Director General of the GHS, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye confirmed that, Yes indeed two (2) Cases of the Omicron variant was recorded on 1st December 2021_ Wednesday.

“There is the emergence of the new variant and I must say, through the robust testing at the Kotoka International Airport, Ghana has detected the Omicron variant already and the cases have come mainly from Nigeria and South Africa. The very first case that was detected during our sequencing was on the 21 of November”, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye said.

According to the GHS, the Omicron virus hasn't been detected in the communities, but it's like to be spread by someone affected to others.

He also added that, All Covid-19 protocols should be adhered to. He advised the public to keep wearing the nose mask and stay safe.
