According to the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey.
He said "The major place of concern for the ban is the Tema Motorway. This action to get rid of tricycle operators from the Highways and it forms part of the ‘LET's MAKE ACCRA WORK AGENDA.’
He also added that "tricycles cannot and will not be allowed to ride on the motorway, and after the 90[Ninety] days period, they will be assigned to their respective assemblies with restrictions rather than working on the principal street."
He also added "as for the Tema Motorway they aren't allowed to ride on it, but they can continue with their business in other areas,” via Asaase Fm on October 22,2021 Friday.
He again said " I've had a series of meetings with the heads of the tricycle operators, adding that the operators’ leadership has been informed about the new order and the incoming ban on tricycles"
Mr Quartey again added that the ban on “Aboboyaa” on the principal streets will be of benefit to the tricycle operators in the country.
He also stated that the ban is to ensure the compliance and enforcement of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (LI 2180).
The bye-law, according to the Regional Minister will ensure road regulations for motorbike riders are enforced and address the issue of abandoned vehicles on the streets.
